Is your Gender Pink in colour? Pink has been the comic sans of colours for a long time. A colour associated with everything not so serious and yet so fun. Pink being a strong and vibrant colour has been associated with boys for a long time. The carefreeness, the dominance, the freedom to play around yet not to be blamed is the personality of any boy, or can we say the hue pink? So when did pink became a colour for girls ? When did the colour blue, the colour which stands for caring, honesty, delicate and dainty, and everything we associate with femininity became the colour for boys? Or is there all just in our minds or a stereotypical vaccine that we inject in the fresh minds of kids who didn’t know that we hypocrites have gender-differentiated colours too. Pink, a colour for girls they say... Often we hear the society associate the words weak, fragile, soft, humble, kind, caring with women. They gave the colour pink these characters and tagged it to girls. Right from birth, we see the differentiation where boys get things, from toys to socks for their tiny feet in blue while girls get them in pink. Well, my problem is not tagging humans in different colours. Yes, colours do have different personalities and our human mind does connect with certain colours which we emotionally get bonded too. But my problem here is the hatred towards pink that most people have, thinking it’s a soft and weak colour just because it's associated with girls'. Boys who like pink, mostly do not admit it fearing being mocked at for liking something that’s supposed to be girls. Consciously or sub-consciously when we make a purchase our mind tends to be drawn to a particular colour no matter what the silhouette of the outfit is! The colour that dominates your wardrobe can give away a lot about you! So, What is the colour of your wardrobe? Psychology says that colours emit radiations that can change a person’s mood. And it can be different for different people, say bright yellow can make you more energetic, awake and noticed whereas a little dark mustard yellow could convey envy, jealous, dull and depressed. Thus we see a lot of people who like yellow for all its good reasons and people who hate the colour for the negative impact it creates.
